Peter Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Rushden, Northamptonshire
Help and advice on preparing a parish community to receive the sacraments as they progress through life was always the responsibility of the Parish Priest. Today, with fewer priests in almost every parish than was the case years ago, help has to come from other sources.
There are two Key Catechists in our Parish leading a team who provide the following Catechistical programmes:
Charismatic Prayer Group
First Holy Communion Preparation
RCIA programme (Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults)
Other adult formation programmes (e.g. CaFÉ)
Society of St Vincent de Paul
We are very fortunate in St. Peter's Parish to have a dedicated team of people that give many hours of their time to help with this necessary and rewarding work. Some of our parishioners also help as Special Ministers, delivering Holy Communion to sick and housebound parishioners.
Those parishioners who are unable to attend the church due to sickness or infirmity can arrange to have the Sacrament of Holy Communion brought to them by contacting the Parish Priest via the Parish Office. Follow the links in the menu above for details of other Groups within our parish.
The UCM has a very active Foundation in our Parish. Click here for more details.
We also have a very active Guild of St Stephen for Altar Servers. Any member of the Parish - and especially children - that wishes to take part in serving at the ceremonies, should contact the Guild for more information.
Last but by no means least we are pleased to take part in the Inter-Faith organisations in our area and are actively involved in Rushden and Higham Ferrers Churches Together and in Churches Together in Irthlingborough and regulalry take part in joint services and other activities.
