St Peter's Charismatic Prayer Meeting

Introduction and welcome

The aim of our prayer group and prayer group ministry is a time to deepen our personal relationship with God so that we can be lights that shine for Him so we reflect Gods Love.

Our prayer group is Charismatic; however some people might be put off by the word charismatic so let's explain:

What is a charismatic prayer group?

Charismatic prayer is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is enthusiastic devotion and spontaneous worship to God. It is simply being in God’s presence and praising Him.

Praise is our expression of warm approval and admiration as we glorify His name.

Praise builds our faith. It releases any doubts and nurtures our faith. We become more aware of God’s presence.

Praise acts like a magnifying glass; it makes God bigger than any problem.

Praise will make focus change!

Our praise includes singing and spoken praise. We are urged to sing and praise at all times. ‘His praise shall be ever in my mouth. Glorify the Lord with me, let us together extol His name’ (Psalm 34)

We praise God for who he is, because he is our loving God.

Praise enables the Holy Spirit to take over and lead us in our worship.

As a charismatic prayer group we desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We ask for them and seek to use them in the prayer group, in the parish, and in our daily lives.

Our aim is to bring people into personal relationship of knowing Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, and empower them with the Holy Spirit.
